On a monthly basis Maritime brings in guest speakers to empart their proffessional and technical expertise to our cadets in all fields related to maritime industries. Please check here on a regular basis for summaries of these sessions.
Nathan Hauser – Tugs and Towing, Inland Waterways
Board Member Nate Hauser held a seminar session regarding tugboat operations which was attended by the 11th and 12th grade cadets. He held a discussion for approximately 45 minutes to one hour.
J. Peter Ault - Corrosion, Coatings, Paints in Marine Environment
Guest speaker J. Peter Ault, an expert in corrosion control technologies, gave a lecture on corrosion, coatings, cathodic protection and paints in the marine environment. The students were engaged and he spoke with the students regarding the maritime industry.
Rian Nemeroff - Lecture on Railroads
Our guest lecturer this month was Rian Nemeroff who spoke about the railroad industry. The kids were very interested and they learned many interesting facts regarding the railroad industry.

John Donahue, Esquire – Customs and International Trade
John is an expert in Customs and International Trade and recently did a seminar with approximately 200 attorneys since the topic has been front page for the last 2 years. Our Cadets will learn about understanding balance of trade, trade deficit, impact of tariffs and customs fees and duties, and protectionist activity. They will also learn what free trade means, what trade agreements are such as NAFTA, and what is a trade deficit. Also, import tax on goods, trading partners, China and international trade, methods to protect US employment, etc.
